Kata Beach

  Kata Beach is one of Phuket’s three most popular beaches, along with Patong and Karon. It’s smaller than the other two at 1.5km in length, and its popularity means that you won’t find that secluded spot to lay down your towel, but thankfully there is still room enough that it rarely feels overcrowded. The beach itself is beautiful, with soft white sand. Kata Beach is one of Phuket’s most popular beaches for surfing, especially in the tourism off-season between June to September. For the rest of the year, swimmers, sunbathers, and snorkelers dominate the beach. While you will see and hear some jet skis and the occasional parasailer, the vibe is still more relaxed than at busier Patong Beach. Head away from the beach and into Kata center itself, and you will find a wide range of hotels and resorts and plenty of nice restaurants, bars, shops, and night markets.
